Back in the Omega fold
« on: 19 November 2011, 20:26:17 »

Didn't want to leave Omega ownership in the first place, and yet find myself owning my first facelift model after many early Omegas.

I've had some cracking Omegas in my time, our main N reg 2.5 V6 CD which was written off by a bus (family safety FTW!), then briefly had a T reg 2.0 auto DEATH Omega ( it was used as a black 'ambulance' if you catch my drift!), then replaced by a 3.0 Elite on a P reg which was on 237,000 miles but had to go when a water hose on the back of the block burst and I was offered a ridiculous amount of money by some Bulgarians for her, so she went, to be replaced by a Citroen Picasso!! :/

Not for me obviously, for the missus.

And then I goto auction on Friday, with the intent to buy some crap to scrap, and a 51 plate 63,000 miles CD saloon auto in mint condition comes through, and I end up going mental and buying it, and now its going to be our second car to the Picasso (or is that the Picasso is second to the Omega?)

Cracking car, needs a wheel bearing, exhaust tightening up, but shes so quiet, better build quality than the previous model, not significantly so, might be because this one is such low mileage.

A few questions though:

1). She doesn't have Xenons, is it difficult and tricky to transfer all associated bits from another Omega that does have them?

2). She doesn't have folding mirrors which i'm told was available on Elite models, are they simply plug and play?

3). Any issues with fitting a leather interior?  Both front seats are electric up and down only, I assume like the Elite pre facelift, the fronts are electric all directions, are the plugs under the floor for me to fit multidirectional leather?

4). Going to source a CCR2006 to have combined tape and cD changer, tape is only so i can use a tape/aux adaptor for the missus' ipod, I'm under the impression that any Vauxhall stereo with an aux socket is full canbus and won't work in the Omega?

5). Rear view mirror doesn't have autodimming, I take it that some of the facelift models carried this option only and is it again plug and play?

6). What else could be added to the Omega that i haven't thought of that was put into the facelifts?

Under-steer is when the front of the car hits the wall, and over-steer is when the rear of the car hits the wall.
Power is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how much of the wall you take with you.
