Whats the attraction of the old site?
« on: 28 September 2011, 22:40:13 »

I look back at old OOF now and again since the change over and see assorted 'elevated' members still online there and remaining there for some time.

Why?

All is the same here and the search functionality is just as good, if not substantially better?

 ???

If you do an "advanced search" with google, and put in the web site as www.omegaowners.com it seems to find the items on the old site not the new. Once you've found the item you are looking for it is then fairly easy to get to it on the new site by section/page .... it is then easy to link to it in a post.

That's why you'll have seen my name there a few times tonight ..  :)

Old habit of using google advanced will take a while to break.. as it is still much faster than the site search IMHO

new is new, old is old..

if people continue to use old site on google searches , new site will hardly have higher ranks to be found in searches.. :-\

Not on a search .... this is google advanced search ...

http://www.google.co.uk/advanced_search

now stick

entwood wheel bearing

in the top box

and

www.omegaowners.com

in the bottom box

and see the result .......  :)

Easier to get you to do it than try to explain !!

Google will still direct you there, though, for a while - at least until it reindexes and resets the ranking for all the dead pages :)
