Most likely a break in the aerial lead or possibly a fault with the aerial amplifier under the fibre parcel shelf.

And to narrow down that excellent diagnosis still further, its usually either the connections between the aerial amp and the screen, or the centre core of the right angled connector at the rear of the head unit

If some heavy handed idiot had the headunit out before you bought it, this is probably the cause !!  There is very little room in there and the unit needs "teasing" back in carefully .. not just ramming in and hoping ... which is what too many do .. and they break things ...  >:( >:( >:( >:(

Not just when refitting, often damaged if the cage comes out at the same time as the radio

It does make a difference, the estate doesn't use the rear screen heater element as an aerial so it doesn't have the same aerial amplifier. I don't have an estate and I can't remember whether it uses a roof aerial or elements in one of the rear side windows :-/

Roof ariel on an estate. Most likely is the 90 degree out of the back of the cage. Not sure if you're local to me but I'd give you a hand/show you if you are.

the problem was with the aerial base, basically the solder had come away from the amplifier inside. done a tempory fix but really need a new 1. so if any one has an aerial base in good working order for an omega elite estate. has to be the base with the rotating ball on it as so the aerial doesnt hit the spoiler then ill buy it. :)

If looking at aftermarket beesting aerials, the one for the Audi A4 Avant is more "upright" to prevent from hitting the tailgates. I mention this as they are generally more widely available and listed than the Omega ones
