Quiet tyres!
« on: 19 August 2010, 17:20:24 »

My front tyres are giving up on Milton Keynes's manic roundabouts so some replacements are due.

Can anyone recommend some tyres that are a reasonable price (£60-£80) but nice and quiet?

Handling not an issue as I rarely take it anywhere near its limit and quite enjoy catching it if it steps out of line anyway.

Cheers,

J

They are superb IMHO. I had SportContact 3s on before and I would rate the KU31s as just as grippy in all conditions.

Their "feel" is different to the SportContacts and perhaps this causes me to be a bit more cautious with them. Perhaps a little less feedback.

No problems with tramlining or vagueness in the steering.

I tried Maxxis MA - V1 (235 45 17). They were £75 per corner fitted. I am very impressed with them. Excellent grip in wet and dry and quiet :y
Good luck with your search :)

Forgot to mention....they cured the wandering feel in the steering (directional stability). :y

just a word of warning, falken 912 i found to be particularly quiet, and are in the same price range. AVOID THESE TYRES ! Devoid of any directional stability, impossible to keep in a straight line.

If you must fit falkens fit the 452, preferably in a higher profile, but these also wonder off for no reason.

I rate Kumho as well but for super cheap but excellent tyres I rate Acceleras (might not be spelt right). Nice and quiet, grippy and last just fine. I pay £48 fitted incl VAT, valve, balance etc. for 225/55 R16 W-rated.

Been offered them in Rotherham for £49.50, get cheaper the more you buy.
