...... i think i have only seen one in about a year.

with the exception of ABS meets, that's one more than me. I haven't seen one on the road in years.

I pass a couple of them almost daily on my commute to work 8-)

Having owned a few Omegas and driven a Senator around europe (although a 24V slush box).

The Omega is a generation ahead, better ride, better handling, better balance, more low down torque.......nicer interior (I dont like the 80's style interiors).

The bottom line is .....the Senator is old hat technology and it shows.
:-/Evening Mark. I don't know how to say this without sounding gobby (i know ican be) but one day Omegas will be replaced with something & therefore become "old hat & outclassed" Will you no longer like them? I think you have a more practical view on things than me, i love "classic cars" despite their drawbacks, guess i'm a bit nostalgic.
Hang on i'm just looking for my rose tinted specs!!! :-/

I know what Mark is saying, he is an engineer (a proper one) and so will look at something from that perspective.

Me, I am not. I like cars that have "something" about them, hence my love of Alfa's :-[

The Senator is a car that is, for me, a classic. Much as I like Omegas, as much as they may be technically superior to a Senator, they will never have the same emotional attachment and will never become a classic.

I sort of agree with your view (though not about rustbuckets Senators) - I've still got a soft spot for my old Astra GTE that I had in the early 90s.  Awful handling (but predicatable), zero traction. But I liked it...  ...even though the (Honda engined) Rover 216 I replaced it with was faster, better handling, more comfortable, I preferred the GTE....
