hi me again, this auto box on our 3.0 v6 elite occassionally slips in and out of 3rd and 4th ,and bangs into gear occassionaly. is this thrust washer an easy job ? could it just be a case of oil and filter change? are they gauze filters that can be cleaned? thaks in advance for help. :)

filter in box easy to remove, held in by three bolts.  you have to drop both sumps though.  best look at fluid level first though.  may just need a change of atf and filter.  check the colour of the oil first, to see if it's black, if so definately needs a fluid change. may just be level though, which would be my first port of call and then go from there. hth

heres a link for filters/etc..http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1223285402

That's a lot cheaper than I was quoted last year for a recon box.  1800 notes, worth more than the car. Hope you sort it.

Reconditioned box from Vx is around 1800-2000, usually full recon is 1.1-1.3k from expensive specialist (can get ones for 800-900). As per oil level – silly question but too many people miss that – was the level check when engine was running and hot?
How does oil look like? Dark red or burned black? Any metal or dusty bits?
Is it working completely fine on 1,2 and R?
Does it just occasionally pops out of gear and runs like on N or is it doing when it’s due to change it?
Any fault codes?
