firmware updates
« on: 11 July 2008, 21:59:35 »

Well guys and gals just thought I would let you no the outcome of my firmware update. About 3 weeks ago I took my 2.2cdx over to jamie (the boy) at northampton who very kindly connected the tech 2 to my car and carried out a number of tests which were to find I had a problem with my cam sensor which has now been changed, eml light intermitantly on. We then proceeded to up date the gearbox software and the climate. I have to say to anybody thinking of doing this update do it. It is incredible the difference it makes my box now changes silky smooth feels like a brand new box but in reality it has done 124000 miles a definate new lease of life. The rest of the changes that were made were pretty suttle, but well worth it. Many thanks to jamie for sorting this for me.

I think the gearbox and the facelift climate ECUs are the ones really worth updating.

I dont know for a minuite what these updates are, but, would it benefit a 3.0 manual, or 2.0 auto?

The 2.0 could probably do with something! Rough as hell!

Cant see an autobox firmware update having a lot of effect on a manual  ;D

I personally find the instrument panel update the most beneficial, couldn't live without that one  ;D

Makes it more pleasant to be in basically,
regulates the temp more efficiently,
doesnt blow you out the seat so much.
we found before it was done we were frequently slowing down the fan speeds, never need to now.

If last LETTER of vin is W on the 2.0, autobox firmware recommended.  Obviously, software can't shine up a turd, so if the box is mechanically shagged, it won't cure it.

The last letter in my VIN is an S (in the middle somewhere) - is it firware-uppable, or too old, being a 1995?

Or is S that old a generation, that hitting it with a hammer would be an improvement?
