2.2 - oh yes it's different  in VB and Omega (I was so confused and it's hard to find a difference between 2.0 and 2.2 in Omega) , but 2.0 X20XEV is the same. X20XEVs were in early 00 Omegas and Vectras.

As for the air system - when it's on I can smell fuel (not completely burned)coming from the valve. Just few seconds but air should be going other way...

The only difference betweem the 2.0 and 2.2 on the Omega are a slightly longer block to accomodate the longer stroke (Bore is the same) and a later coil per plug and drive by wire management setup.
