Split pipe
« on: 06 August 2007, 21:17:07 »

Hi all, I was just topping up my screenwash and noticed that I had a split in one of the pipes - the one that is disconnected in this photo:

I have bodged it with some tape at the moment but what I wanted to know was, what problems may this have caused? would it have affected mpg at all? as I think mine has been bad of late.
Also, Is there a part number for this pipe or a description so I could get a replacement?
Thanks!

That will give quite a hefty air leak and as a result a reduced inlet vaccum.....which will affect economy

ive had a few split pipes over the last couple of years rather than drag em out to see were they going i just cut of split end and extend it with a bit of brake pipe and rubber on end much quicker than ragging all the pipes out works for me

Thanks for the replies, I'm not sure if there's enough left to cut the end off, the split is around an inch long. Although if I route it slightly differently I may be able to do that. I have to get a few parts from the dealer anyway so I thought I'd try to get a new one but am unsure of a part number or a decent desription.

I ended up cutting the pipe and reattaching, but a couple of weeks later has split again... I have cleaned the breathers in between this happening, I couldn't get the other end of this pipe off so left it  :-[ I may have to cut it off the other end and get a new one - would this be the best thing to do?
