DIS Diagnosis
« on: 18 May 2007, 18:17:20 »

I've just removed my DIS pack to try to remedy my missfire problem.
The opposite end to the multiplug is cracked underneath and is exposing corroded coil.
Would this cause severe missfire? It was down to 3 or 4 cylinders. :'(

yup.  once the casing is cracked, or starts to delaminate, its game over for the DIS.  Fix it before you ruin the cats.

Vauxhall have quoted me £130 for a new one. Markie(on the forum) has a 2nd hand one but I need it asap. I may have to bite the bullet and pay through the nose.
It was'nt as bad to get out as I was expecting, after some morale boosting from you guys.
I slipped the HBV of its mount and squeezed it past there and out of the side. Not too much blood. :y

I've a nasty feeling the CATS are buggered already. Lots of stinking and banging. :'(
I did'nt drive far with the missfire but it still stank of rotten eggs.

I've just fitted the new DIS pack. Took about an hour. Again, not as bad a job as I expected.
You guys were right again. Its running fine now. :y Excellent result.
The only boob I made was forgetting to reconnect the wiper motor multiplug, so I had to take the scuttle off again, I could live with that because it was already running by then.
Thanks guys.
