I had one as my first car. It was several interesting shades of silver and grey! Rampaging 1.0 carbed engine and 4 (four!) forward speeds. And an AM radio. Luxuriant!

Had a brand new Nissan Micra when we moved to Norfolk in 1988 F69XCL lovely little car ran like a sewing machine used to travel back & forth to Croydon in it before I left the LAS, £5,000 on the road SWMBO had the LWB Nissan Patrol to potter round Norfolk in with the kids & dogs.

Mk1 Lotus Elise is somehow a lightweight at 725kg. How the hell can an aluminium chassied, glassfibre bodied, barely trimmed,  minimally equipped, 2 seater convertible weigh almost as much as a mk1 Golf?

That's not that much lighter than a Sierra XR4x4i, especially when you allow for the other three seats, and doors :D

The Sierra is arguably a better performing car too.

Collected it from Listers in Boston, all work completed as requested to the Yaris Cross, now have trickle charger option  fitted and mudflaps all round, so far have found them an excellent dealership, fingers  crossed it remains that way.

??? ?? A Sierra is going to be closer to 1200kg. That's at least 50% more than an Elise, which is a significant increase.

My mistake, the V6 is 1205kgs and the 4x4 another 100kgs... More than I thought but still pretty light by today's standards ;)

1.6 is a mere 1040kgs which isn't bad considering that it's almost twice the size of the Elise.

Also, in my limited defence, when I first read 'Mk1 Elise' I pictured the Elan :D

And, if I didn't have a dog, I wouldn't mind a not-so-micra. They're a fair size now.
My daughter in law has just got herself a Micra. They look twice the size of the old ones.  :)

I've got a K12, lovely little runaround, can drive it flat out every where, good on fuel,  teaching son to drive in at moment, and the price of putting him in the insurance is horrendous...

The (RWD) XR4 must be one of the most disappointing cars I've ever had the displeasure of driving.  Not particularly quick and fairly heavy for its era, and I always found the steering was a bit laggy.  Tailgate struts never seemed to last either, lol.
