Wrote the "death certificate" for the Zafira A 2.0 DTi elegance dirty diesel  :(
the crank pulley (harmonic damper) grenaded  ,so no water pump action going on  :(
I replaced the pulley, water pump, tensioner and belt  :)
I had to use a torque multiplier to undo the crank bolt  :o
refilled the cooling system (4 L of coolant had boiled off)
apparently it overheated ,but still got driven 20 miles ,gauge in the red   >:(
got it "running" again but with loads of DTCs ,smoking badly ,so the engine is toast :(

sorted it's replacement Zafira 1.7 CDTi ecoFLEX Design clicky
tidy enough, low miles  and a good MOT history
also .....not as much rust as i'm used too  :P

When I looked at Zaf-B's a couple of years back, I couldn't get anything for under £5k that wasn't hugely rusted underneath :o.  Glad you found a good'un

I think that one is late enough to have the modified gearbox as well :y

Following the unofficial Brackley Beer Festival* round my house yesterday, it was all I could do this morning to get the car back on the drive without hitting the house.

*We're boycotting the official one now, as:
a) they've got greedy on costs
b) they make it hard to actually attend
c) it's now call the Summer Family Festival, so full of screeching little baskets running around everywhere

……….
*We're boycotting the official one now, as:

………..

They always spoil it by being greedy. Remember Thame Show, the largest one day show in Britain. Well they’ve scrapped it altogether now after whacking the entry prices right up and wondering why nobody bothered going.  ::)
Thame Food Festival used to be in the High Street and was free to walk around and browse. The traders made money from selling their products, albeit at inflated prices, and it was a roaring success. Some bright spark saw an opportunity to move it to the old show field and charge £15 per person, regardless of age unless you are under 2, so I suspect that this will die on its arse this year, and rightly so. So, for a family of 4, £60 entry fee plus a £15 burger and a drink each and you’re looking at some serious money for just a walk around event.
They deserve to lose attendees when they do this.

Everything is about greed now , we've been out for lunch no problem there at all , then thought we're not far from Rutland Water so we'll have a stroll round there it used to cost £2.00 to park for an unlimited time and you could use the same ticket in the various car parks surrounding the reservoir, it's now £2.00 per hour and the tickets are not transferable from car park to car park, two tiny ice creams £8.00 greedy bastards, last time I'll be going there.

Probably find the parking rates are designed to deter the motorhome types.

As for the ice cream costs, that's how they pay their bills.

Anyone who has been self employed should have an understanding of why things cost what they do. Everyone else just moans about it.

Put another way, if you reckon you could do it better for less, do it.

Glad they kept the old bus going for longer :y

I thought I'd killed mine whilst  racing a colleague driving back from Guildford, and managed to get the needle right into the red.  Heaters on full chat, windows open, nursed it to Beaconsfield services about 15 miles away (first safe option to stop).  I'd picked up some packing debris and blocked the rad.  It was fine once debris removed and cooled down, and we were soon back to racing driving home.  That was when I discovered one of the fans wasn't working, and you donated one to the cause :y

Honestly thought mine was indestructible, but the front subframe rusted through, where it sits around the sound deadening.  Seriously thought about replacing the subframe, but the car had many, many other issues that were uneconomical to repair.

Get your new one jacked up and protect underside whilst its still good.  I suspect its not good enough for waxoil type treatments. I tend to use used engine oil for the steel bits on our cars now, just be careful around rubber bushes, and note that it does tend to drip for a few hours after application.

Parking is outrageous really.  £4 for an ice cream is not far from the norm now for a whippy, especially if you have the flake.
