But it was worth it, as it went like the clappers* afterwards, once I'd freed off the wastegate on the turbo again

Had a Kia K5 for a day...

Meh.

I had some crappy small van yesterday, Vauxhall maybe?, that I had to tolerate a repeated limp mode, and it was giving me a countdown before it would stop starting due to an emission fault.

Enterprise really make my life a bloody misery

Have to say, for £38 a day, I can't really complain. Between 4.it works out at £15 each for a day out

Had to go over to my friends and find out why the engine fan was not working after I redid some of the bodged wiring on his hot rod, must have been one off the links onto links onto links I removed. New feed and it works, also had to find an ign feed to rev counter. Cant wait to do the job correctly with new fuse/relay box and bin the bad jumble of links.

Dropped the wheel off to see if it can be made round again.  He said he'd call me in a couple of hours, but he hasn't.  Not sure if thats a good or bad sign!

Bought a new tyre for mine today. Stupid £ucking sh!try roads.

Managed to get the bonnet open

It has taken a week of periodically pulling the release lever and pushing/pulling on the bonnet.

Need to fit a good battery and see if it starts now.

What can possibly go wrong

New battery I ordered from Tayna yesterday (standard delivery) arrived today.

Need to get of my arse and fit it now.

Fitted the new battery yesterday - wouldn't start.

Gave the battery a good charge overnight, refitted it today and finally got it started - (for the first time in 5 years).

There is something not quite right with the starter motor. Cranking was slower than it should be and my helper said that they saw sparks and some magic smoke - almost as if the starter wasn't bolted tightly to the engine.  Something to investigate before the MOT.

Once the engine was running I had to shunt it back & forth a few times before the rear brakes would let go. Brake discs look surprisingly good but tomorrow I will get the wheels off and have a closer look.

Cleaned out the cabin/pollen filter chamber today and made sure the water/gunk can flow freely out the waste pipe.

Got it cleaned out just in time as water was nearly up to the bottom of the pollen filter.

Changing both centre sections and back box today on elite, all 4 bolts snapped on the centre section join so going to be a fun afternoon!

Suspect when the bill arrives, mine will be double that, as I have to suck up delivery and pick up costs, plus out of hours delivery

Spent the day cleaning & checking the thing (MK2 Ford Galaxy Diesel auto).
5 years under a tree had resulted in a mouldy interior. The cheap seat covers fitted by the last owner had grown a layer of fur, I tried cleaning them with a carpet cleaner and the vinyl surface peeled off. 7 seat covers are now in the bin. Seats look OK underneath.
All the seat belts were a bit surprised that I wanted to extend them  couldn't get one to extend at all so will have to pull the trim off to inspect it.
Undid all the wheel nuts half a turn, will get the wheels of tomorrow to check the brakes........

EDIT: also serviced FIL's F10 520d for the first time in 4 yrs/15k  . Engine oil was about 20% diesel  hopefully not damaged the poor thing too much!

Took the silver Omega for an MOT (Been off the road for a couple of years), failed with one broken front spring (Eibach) and rear brake imbalance. New Eibach springs ordered and hoping a clean up of the rear calipers will get them freed up enough.

TBH the poor thing is absolutely battered. Never seen any love or effort lavished on it in two decades. I do what I can 

And tbh I find the job very satisfying - a leisurely couple of hours of an afternoon brightens the old girl up no end!
