Took the head off my recently aquired 1985 Carlton 2.0 L estate
One owner since new, no central locking, no electric windows, no ABS, simples
Previous owner sold it as he was 95 and the head gasket had gone
Found the replacement gasket done after the valve seats were changed to hardened ones is wrong and 50% of the water ways were not allowing water from the block to the head and vice versa as the gasket did not have the nessacary holes in it
.

Nice buy , how many miles on the clock?

129k, 5 speed manual. Large history booklets, origional bill of sale from new

Sort it out, and then be ready for a few shows nice hobby, that's what I intend doing with my Granada I bought a few months back but I'm not rushing the guy whose restoring it, he's got 4 cars on the go at present so can see it being well into next year fingers crossed.

Thats the plan
A lot of the shows are strictly enforcing the 25 year old rule so cant take the Monaro with that being only 20 years old now

MOT pass with 1 advisory rear prop shaft bearing has slight play, going to collect it tomorrow as servicing won't be complete by end of play. So had a couple of pints & cheese & onion rolls & home on the bus, I did actually find some bargains ready for next summers cruise.

Fitted a new (to the car) rear window mech, and finally swapped the battery over.

Not able to collect the RR till tomorrow as I told my indie to go ahead & sort the advisory out, so took SWMBO out to lunch in Stamford in her new car & it's absolutely brilliant the salesman put an app on my phone which tells me exactly where the car has been+ various speeds etc and even gave me a score out of 100 for my driving I only got 84 because I accelerated to quickly out of a 30mph zone..😂 also achieved 69mpg ! Just a bit better than the Subaru which could only achieve 33 on a long run, and the Yaris Cross has plenty of go for a 1.5 3 cylinder , I'm smitten 😄
