Black undercover 03 plate, HYU I think. Most surprised as I really thought they would all be gone by now.

Seen a few unmarked round Slough, but all v6 vectras though. Not seen a sneaky omega for a long while.

Still some around, not many though, depends what they were used for, most of the ones left will still be on low mileage, typically less than 80k.

That's not sneaky at all, I've seen an F reg red XR3 Escort used as a police car. Nobody would suspect that.

And it was only about 6 months ago before anyone asks :).

we still have police cars on '51 or '52 reg, and although I've not seen any Omegas recently, that would be in prime Omega territory.

The only car I think of, is GM03 HYU as often seen in Road Wars.
Some forces do indeed still have Omega's...Wiltshire disposed of WU03 BUH the other day, TVP still have some in service, along with The Met.

There is some still being used although the cars sitting not too far away from me at the moment (two armoured) are not used by uniform personnel.

Avon and Somerset still have one for "covert ops" too..........ex-traffic from another force, and blends in well....

That's still about - that is it's 'ghost' plate though as TVP cars generally have OU, OY, or OV plates. The 'Road Wars' or Tango Victor (TV) cars all have two sets of plates - as I recall the LW0?AET plates on the Black Vectra that featured lots on RW's was a ghost plate.

The local Traffic base to Slough have a green unmarked Vectra 2.8 Turbo - OU06HSV or something similar - the TV cars have ghost plates fitted.

The last marked TVP Omega expired this week, it was a 53 plate used by the TV Sgt and was fully kitted with ANPR and Tracker, etc. It had a full scale overheat and the suggestion is that the engine is fooked as it won;t restart now....  expect to see it at a Police auction near you soon....  (West Oxford Motor Auctions - WOMA)....

Cheers,

FYS,

when I was in Northern Ireland a few years back they had loads of unmarked Omegas, they were all red, white and blue funnily enough! I've never seen a non police Omega in the same shade red. It was nocturno blue I think!

You could spot them a mile off, the rear quarter lights were all thicker glass, yet the other glass wasn't. They were based out of PSNI Maydown just outside Londonderry.

Then they got unmarked black Legnum VR4s. These were fast (and scary - I'd never seen one before, they looked like something out of Star Wars and went like it aswell!) I decided to 'race' one one day. Not a good idea!
