Small Car advice!
« on: 19 May 2010, 23:47:12 »

As mentioned in my sale thread - thinking of a small automatic car either a Nissan Note or a Honda Jazz. Any advice or anyone selling one of these?

Forget the Note. The hire car I had, used more petrol than a V6!!!

Thanks, Mate. Was keen on the note as they mention 'British Built' as opposed to Chinease made Jazz.

Possibly an Astra then :y

Don't write off the Jazz, Hondas are superb cars and IMHO probably the most dependable mainstream cars around today.

SWMBO had an auto 16 valve 1600 Astra G. It was a nice car to drive, some small auto's I've driven are never sure what gear they want, but this was OK. It was hopeless of fuel though around town, mid to high 20's to the gallon.

Agreed. :y

Had a Civic V-Tech, and now a little HRV - they just don't break or go wrong!

Thanks Guys!

I have now paid deposit for a JAZZ as mrs does not fancy a Astra and she will be driving it around town.

I was personally keen on Astra but now looking forward to the Jazz.

Hope I will not be kicked out of this forum though :'( :'(

check rear wheel bearings on the Jazz. They are a common problem and not cheap about £130 a side.

I would urge you not to buy a Honda Jazz.

They are absolutely renowned for oil pump/ pressure problems, which cause the con-rods to come flying through the block. The camshafts also seem to be made out of butter, there have been umpteen reports of snapped ones.

In addition - someone mentioned the rear wheel bearings. The answer is yes, they do indeed fail. Regularly. I have read of more than one occasion when the rear wheel has come off, still attached to hub, and actually overtaken the car...

Only kidding. I made all that up. I've heard great things about the Jazz  :y
