Bringing another Omega to OOF!

Well, I've liked the Omega for a while and I knew I'd eventually get one
so, all going to plan, I'll be picking up a 2000 W reg 2.5i V6 CDX tommorrow



I would never normally do it this way but I've never actually seen the car yet, it's a hundred and a bit miles away on a forecourt, but at the same time he's buying my car blind aswell, and Omegas aren't exactly 10 a penny so...

So I'm asking for some advice on what to particularly look for to know what to walk away from or to not worry extensively about, in terms of Omega specific points, I'm not a mechanic but i'm not a tyre kicker either

The Omega has done a tiny 42000 miles, it'll have a years MOT and will be serviced, the cam belt was changed in december there, it's got a full service history and 'all the buttons' work so it really seems to be fine

What are peoples thoughts?

I would print out James' assessment of the 3.2 Elite from last night - that would be a good checklist to take with you.

Remember with Omega's costing so little, consumables like tyres, exhaust etc represent a high proportion of the buy price, so worth some haggling if they are close to needing replacement.

..nice colour car btw :y

Make sure you find out if the full cam belt kit was fitted NOT JUST THE BELT, as the belt very rarely fails, it is the tensioner that fails. If nessasary budget about £100 for the belt kit and another £150 in labour to fit. Pm DARTH LOO KNEE for a price to change it. :y

As far as I can figure out the colour is a mix of bronze blue and iron grey  :)
I don't yet know the actual paint code, all I know is that it is a genuine vauxhall colour and vauxhall did do a few mixed colours, usually 'a colour' mixed with either iron grey or platinum silver

*Jonny Bravo voice* man it's pretty  8-)

She runs sweet as a nut, full vaux service history, genuine 42k miles, flew thru the MOT with no advisories, vaux service this morning and she breezed the 120odd miles back home

So far finding it very easy to say I've got a right good 'un  :)

My left hand and foot are a bit confused as to what they're supposed to do now tho hehe

On a slightly serious note .... if not used to driving autos ... tuck your left foot well back almost against the seat if you can ..... until you get used to it !!!

It is EXTREMELY easy when first driving auto's after manuals to forget (especially if a little tired) and when you come to traffic lights, or a queue of traffic to automatically stick the left foot out for the clutch .....

It will probably hit that nice large pedal called the brake .... and push it right down .. as you think its a clutch .......

This has a remarkable tendency to try and lock all the wheels, resulting in a very high level of deceleration, and possibly much ABS activity ....., and your passengers may well end up with bruised chests (and if female I believe this is VERY painful)

Idiot chav in the corsa behind will probably be sitting inside your boot at this time !!!!!

Not good at all :)

I'm not a total noob to automatics though, I've been driving automatic buses for a few years now  :y
I've never had an auto car as a daily driver is all
my foot's sat comfortably on the rest so far
