At least there appears to be some sort of justice for Ian and his family. The copper is up on a misconduct hearing.

Yes, I think a hearing into this sad incident is essential.

I know only too well that eye-witness/still and video evidence can only tell part of the story - especially in a widespread dynamic situation such as that which existed on the day - but having watched the video record of how this man was pushed to the ground I fail to see how the officer in question can possibly contest the following;

Quote
He is also accused of using force that "was not necessary, proportionate or reasonable in the circumstances

To me, it was a totally unnecessary vindictive and excessive act and I have policed in full-on riots where one is obliged to use force of varying degrees.

Agreed millwall. Yes, we the public aren't privvy to the full facts. Are we ever? But certainly going on the short video clip that we all have seen in the media, it appears to be a disgraceful gratuitous use of unnecessary and excessive force, against someone who posed no threat.

I wonder what would've happened if it was the other way round?

Where will it end? These terrible things happen all the time, perpetrated by someone in public office, then nothing of any substance ever seems to happen after, apart from talking shops where nothing much is achieved.

The poor man.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

What would have happened if a member of the public had given a police officer a dig in the back hard enough to lift them off there feet and possibly contributed to their death, I bet that member of public wouldn't have seen the light of day for a very long time >:(
