Mrs C just wrang to say her exhaust sounds like a bag of spanners.

Rang Vx as car only 2 years old - and warranty only lasts 1yr

Trade club price for back box £57.87 so wrang local exhaust centre and they say they have no listing for a 1.4 only a 1.6.  Internal mearurements, brackets ect all the same but Vx part nos in catalogue quoted as 13107578 for 1.4 & 93365307 for 1.6 - fitted for £38

So the question is - can a 1.6 box be fitted to a 1.4 and will it be detremental in any way.

I know I should by Vx but at £88 fiited vs £38 for cheapo - it it worth it, after all it's not an Omega

My mega was on its original full exhaust until 8 months ago. £57.87 for a back box on a Meriva?   I only paid around £68 for the one on my Omega and i bet its bigger!

That was on TC though so very much cheaper, can you not blag trade at Vaux?

I should imagine 1.6 box is ok, its like 2.5 & 3.0 Omega back boxes same mounting just different tail pipes. Need DTM to confirm...

Its rubbish coz if you buy a replacement exhaust from Vauxhall you get a 2 year warranty.....

Mrs C brought the car home from Tesco and although the exhaust rubbers are loose it didn't account for the noise.

Then I was thinking maybe a loose heat shield....but no.

I opened the bonnet and found the bonnet stay resting on the block  

I'm sure it wasn't me so I asked if perchance she had been under there for some reason..."me, oh, er, yes - but only to fill up the squirters"

Case solved

But I will get a couple of rubber mounts anyway

I know, those Senator bonnets are a bloody nuisance....I always crack my head on them....!

They just need to open a bit higher....
