Mrs has found a dog what do I do?
« on: 26 November 2009, 22:27:39 »

Found a dog, mine are going potty in the kitchen, shes a german shepard very very sweet will see her more when I get home. Mrs. scanned her for a micro-chip and she has her own micro-chipping business anyway not chipped, rang police who gave her a number and rang that number they said dog warden only works during the day. Rang RSPCA who said its down to your local dog warden, what shall I do she is very well behaved has had a drink and some sweets.

Not going to chuck her out again will I have to keep her until morning I suppose there is nothing else to do?

Not a lot you can do really... Apart from keeping it safe (perhaps in the Garage/Shed so as not to upset your dogs too much) with water and a little food then call the Warden tomorrow :-/ :-/

I find it amazing that in this day and age you still can't get help at night... If it were here I wouldn't be able to take it in so I'd just have to let it go :( :(

tell your local police station that youve got it as anybody whos lost a dog will tend to phone the police first.,,,sorry youve already done that, but you could ask them to make a note instead of fobbing you off.

Stand outside & listen for the owners calling her name?

We used to have two Norwegian Buhunds. They were incredible escapologists. One (Tess) used to come back after about 100 yards but the other (Cassie) would keep going. I found that the best way of finding Cassie was to put a lead on Tess and take her for a walk. People were much more likely to remember (and tell me) about seeing her sister running loose.

Problem (for the owner) is that if the Police or warden take the dog in it is going to cost them to release it.

Would put her in the garage but it gets a bit cold in there, she'll have to stay in here I suppose  :-/ Mrs. has taken her for a walk and she had 2 wee's and she seems to be house trained i'll find out when I get in ;D

I saw her running around the road opposite ours, rang the mrs who then got a lead on her and she walked her after ringing everyone and now they're indoors, very well behaved by all accounts which is good at least  :y
