Noticed an offer yesterday at the Tyrefitters to fill your tyres with Nitrogen instead of air for £1.75 ea.

Advert claims no temperature changes so it keeps an even pressure, which helps tyre wear, mpg and has no moisture content.

Anyone running on N ?

Nope... It's true what they state but not really worth it unless you do lots of high speed driving. It's popular on track days as obviously the tyres get a much harder time than they do on the road meaning they heat up more.

I suppose for £1.75 each it's not bad, but only if your pressures are rock solid meaning it'll last a long time without having to top up now and again.

Am I missing something? How the **** are they going to get the air out that's already in there, so they can then fill it with N? Where I used to work we made cameras which required an average 30 minute purge to clear out air, which was with N in one end & air out the other! You ain't got 2 valves on your tyres!

Am I missing something? How the **** are they going to get the air out that's already in there, so they can then fill it with N? I suppose they just let the air out with the valve then blow em back up again with Nitrogen......mostly Nitrogen i guess they mean.

If I'm ever foolish enough to take my car to a Track Day I'll give it a go then  

Bottled out last time and "borrowed" a 2 seater Ginetta.  I could never red line my car like I did his - but it was fun and I only went off once
