Omega Owners Chat Room?
« on: 06 December 2006, 22:16:56 »

How about a chat room, as part of the forum site?

I was thinking an IRC based one, with a web based "front end" attached to this site for users to access (or use mIRC if they prefer)

I for one am confident with how IRC works and would be happy to work alongside the admins to implement and maintain / moderate the chatroom, on an ongoing basis.

With this setup, users could have their own individual logins, and the room could be made "invite only" so there are loads of opportunities to make sure it's not abused.

Just a thought, what does anyone else think?

personally not a fan, and also think it may drag members away from forum.  also, logistics of it currently may be challenging...

I think that it would be a good idea just to say hi and how are you, you could put a limit of about 3 posts on the chat bit :-?

It wouldn't be posts, it would be a live chat room.

Hows about I just create one on my personal web space, so you admins can glance an eye on how it would look and work? If you don't like it, I'll ditch it with no hard feelings :)

I know how they work, and have admin'd sites with them on....   ....still not a fan of them, and it will cause a division between those that use it, and those that don't.

Additionally, at the moment, for technical reasons we cannot implement on the site.
