Delivering items is not great service but rather a minimum level of expectation.  >:D

Well, my expectations, particularly buying from individuals on the Gay of E, delivery within the stated timeframe is a bonus, seeing as all private ebay sellers are always having to be rushed to hospital, or their grans are always on deaths door and any other excuse for CBA...

It helps to only buy from sellers who have some appreciation of the concept.of what they do.

For example, the Bini is going next week and I discovered that the purge valve connector to the cam cover had snapped. Ordered one , from a company I have used before, while I was away on Sunday and it's being delivered today.

I couldn't reasonably expect it any sooner. So that's step one. When postie delivers it and I fit it without issue that's step two. That's fundamentally all anyone can ask from a supplier.

Now, if I had arrived home yesterday afternoon to find that they had popped round on Sunday evening and fitted and washed the car, that would be exceptional and I would sing from the roof tops about how totally amazing they are. That's the difference.

If it takes a couple of days for it to turn up, that's still reasonable but if you're still waiting a week for some sort of response then that's pretty shit. And you're probably not going to use them again.

I find companies are generally better.  A pair of air filters ordered Sunday have just arrived, that was from GSF on Ebay. And delivered by Herpes, so clearly a miracle ;D.  As it happens, they were to replenish stocks in the garage, so wasn't in a hurry.  A pollen filter I am in more of a hurry for, but only ordered Sunday, and RM are estimating tomorrow, so that's perfectly reasonable :)

It's just a lot of the (non car related) less easy to obtain stuff I get, usual story, dog ate the homework type wasters.

Why say that TB? ::) ::)

Autodoc can supply most of the quality parts we need, when local agents cannot, at a great price, checked for Omega suitability, and with reliable delivery.  I have now purchased many parts from them, which Vx cannot supply, and they have yet to let me down.  Why call them retards? ??? ???

Quality is perhaps the point of debate. ;)

I never got to find out, as the useless retards never dispatched. And short of going to Germany, my only comeback was the credit card company when I couldn't get a response from Autodoc.

Why?  The quality of the product supplied to date is as good as the original, with a whole range of manufacturers involved for choice.  For instance the bonnet support arms I fitted the other week were identical to the originals.   ;)

Visually identical does not the same a thing make.

You can make a part look like an original part but if the components within said part are not equal to those in a genuine original, then there's an increased likelihood of premature failure. Or if you're really unlucky, it won't work or fit straight out of the box.

Like EuroShiteParts and their love of Firstline branded parts.  They look ok, sometimes even fit, but guaranteed not to last the warranty period ;D

i suppose this will end up being the way to go in the future as "original" parts supply dries up and we get what we can . obviously not all aftermarket stuff is crap and also some makes are not  consistent anyway . i also read somewhere that not all oem stuff is actually the same quality as originally fitted when the car was made !.   stuff like bulbs , blades fuses etc are easily obtained anywhere of differing quality and modern rubber components are universally crap ?
personally "virtually everything" i buy is from ebay and over the years ive had very few issues . certainly outweighed by the bargains ive found .

I bet for things like bulbs etc, a franchised dealer will by cheap crap, and sell on a full RRP for older cars.

I tend to be quite choosey on brands for stuff thats important (or a shit to change), though care not where I source it from as long as it's reasonably reputatable - ie, I would not by Bosch stuff from a chinky ebay seller or an unknown amazon marketplace seller....

Likewise, I try to choose particular brands from a select number of sellers.

That said, I have just bought a couple of significant parts for the next phase of Project Proper car form a couple of sellers in Lithuania... Though if they start playing silly buggers, my GF is Lithuanian so I will get her to yell at them.

Generally, I've had little trouble from Lithuanian breakers, and often the part arrives quicker than the usual ebay 'tards, so fingers crossed there will be no issue :y

One of our host girlies at work is from there, so I have picked up a few swear words and derogatory comments ;D
