Trump is the playground bully. My dad is bigger ‘a you. My ball etc.  our generation has got used to gentlemanly negotiations behind closed doors and then a public announcement of the outcome.

I think his tactics are effective just as Putins are. No one called Putin when he annexed Crimea. He has jolted Mexico and Canada and Denmark into life to toe his party line. The EU meanwhile continues to function slowly behind closed doors ( just what exactly was agreed yesterday in terms of funding the defence shortfall they all , mostly, agree?)

Suggestions are that Starmer has agreed to join the EU Defence Union. No formal announcements yet, but if it's true I wonder what that means for the operational independence of our Armed Forces.

I saw a video on X a couple of days ago of a Canadian Parliamentary Select Committee hearing where MP's were grilling the Chief Constable of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Canada's federal police force) about the smuggling of fentanyl across the border to the USA. When asked how many people were involved, he didn't have a clue, but estimated that there were approximately 4000 gangs involved! 

I think Trumpy has a point and I don't blame him for getting tough with the neighbours if they don't take law enforcement seriously. I wish our useless, spineless, lawyerly, middle managerial technocrats would do the same.

I watched an episode of 24 hours in police custody earlier in the week. Apparently, crystal meth is about to hit our shores in a big way, so we'll see what happens with that.

And in Vancouver the gangs are all Chinese run. There are large stretches of the Canadian border that make crossing the Rio Grande look like swimming the Channel*.
