Apparently Trumpy is exploring the idea of purchasing the Chagos Islands from Mauritius, after Starmer and Lammy meekly surrender them and the Union Flag is pulled down. 

What a humiliation that would be!     Although I suppose it would save the reported £9 billion of taxpayers cash that those idiots have agreed to pay to rent the base. On the other hand Trump will surely charge us, if we want to keep a military presence there?

Quite seriously a government of OOFers could do a better job. We just keep on sleep walking into the hands of the Chinese, Russians and Indians. Thankfully the Iranians are seen for what they are.

It was never theirs in the first place.   

It's just an accident of history that the Chagos Islands were administered by the Brits from Mauritius as were the Seychelles, although they later became a Crown Colony in their own right. So are Mauritius going to try to claim the Seychelles next? 

The Establishment have possibly opened a pandora's box here with their insane 'decolonisation' drive, as all kinds of places were administered by the British colonial authorities from other places, often thousands of miles away.  The Maldives and Somaliland for example were administered from British India. As there is now apparently a legal precedent, can India claim The Maldives and Somaliland?

This article in the Times claims that Starmer is pushing ahead with ceding the Chagos Islands and that the Mauritian PM Navin Ramgoolam claims that in the renegotiation Starmer has made significant concessions, including offering Mauritius complete sovereignty over Diago Garcia, the island with the military base, and has doubled the payment from £9bn to £18bn!    WTF! 

More details from Guido, and it seems that Starmer, Philip Sands, the Mauritius Attorney General and Richard Hermer the UK Attorney General are old chums.   

So the question is, why is Starmer so hell bent on pushing this through?   

And why are Labour being so secretive about it?    As it seems that what details we know, have come from the Mauritian PM when he briefs his MP's!

That Mauritian Prime Minister looks like a wily old bastard, and I bet his interest is more about the cash than the islands.  His Swiss bank account will probably be looking much healthier when it's stuffed full of British taxpayers cash! 

It will look even healthier when he sells the islands on to Donald Trump!
