UGG boots
« on: 19 January 2025, 21:32:25 »

I never cease to be amazed.

My relative runs a pets and garden business. She has started getting phone calls “ I paid for Ugg boots but they haven’t arrived” Don’t sell them. Your website shows them for sale. I have never had a website, I am on Facebook though.

To cut a long story short. There is a website. Includes her contact number , picture of the shop, address of the shop etc. Click on Ugg boots and there is a wide range available. Not cheap either.

Good scam , pay but nothing turns up. No doubt if it gets shut down, they just pick another innocent business and copy across the framework of the website.with a new front business.

You have to be very, very careful when shopping online these days. I will only buy from the likes of Amazon, John Lewis, Next, etc.

Agreed , it is a very clever set up that passes casual scrutiny.

Police aren’t interested as shop owner hasn’t lost any money. Her answer message now says  “ if you are ringing about non receipt of Ugg boots, I am afraid you have been scammed. Please contact your bank”  Of course they refund the money ( hopefully) and pass that cost onto us law abiding citizens!

It's all crazy.  I have had calls from india using my local STD code, tech is so clever they can probably change any call to show a number of their choice.

It's same with the deep fakes with the likes of Martin Lewis being used, it's all getting so convincing.

Trivial with a SMS, as the sending number is just part of the initial handshake, and not checked.

Slightly harder with PSTN, as needs some kind of Phreaking. But simple enough to apply for "local" voip numbers.  Following on form your other topic, as my voip line is also on my mobile, as well as my "landline", I have the same local Brackley number, no matter where I am in the world at any point.

.

We got thoroughly fed up with nuisance calls on our landline so got rid of it, simply got our mobiles now although I must admit I used to enjoy winding the Indian idiots up when they used to call me.

virtually everything i buy nowadays (obviously excluding food and things i need immediately) comes from ebay .this includes car stuff , house stuff ,diy etc.
any issues if there ever are any get dealt with by ebay .
some people have the same relationship with amazon too but personally i've never used it .

All egays prices are about to increase, as the buyer is now paying all the selling fees ;)

It had already gone from being uncompetitive as traders ruined it, like they did with car boots....

My local garage has loads of pig piss outside the shop. I fill up with fuel, pick up some pig piss, pay and leave. Very, very simple.

Mine stopped asking for it a few years back after being plugged in to a laptop.  ;)  Perhaps I should get it checked out .... not.  :)
Maybe your friendly JLR employee could do the same to your Jag.  :)

Pigs piss is the work of do gooders. There are cars within the same manufacturer, with the same engine, one with pigs piss and one without, depending on build year.

Petrol is for low torque garden machinery.   ::)  ;)

Too expensive, and it’s been in the sun and been frozen.

If I have to pay premium prices and get locally, it’s ShitFix or Toolstation
