Auto Aid Breakdown
« on: 22 December 2024, 16:22:29 »

Just a warning for those Omega owners who use this breakdown cover, which I know one or 2 do, that mine has just renewed and I noticed a clause not there before - they only cover cars less than 15yrs old....

Afaik, you need to pay an extra premium for older cars.

There was always the clause that if a car was older than X years, you had to pay £25 (from memory) each time you used it, but never saw anything about not covering older cars, and it wasn't on last years policy.

I'll go have another look though :y, as for the next renewal, mine will be approaching 15yrs old.

Ah, yes, it's an extra £21 :y

So I'll need to get that added from next renewal.

Thats why they took £95 from my bank account last week. When I first signed up with them it was about half that.
I think next year I will actually look at the other options, for the first time in at least ten years.

Similar to pet insurance.

Insure a fit healthy 2 year old mutt and they are happy to oblige. Try to insure a knackered 10 year old mongrel and they'll either decline or want a ridiculous amount.

My AA Gold breakdown cover does not specify any age limit, and indeed covers any car that is mine and road legal.

Twice over the last two years this has been tested, with the AA coming out and doing their job with no issues over my Omega's age.  I also pay nothing extra for the cars age.

So, I would therefore highly recommend the AA for breakdown cover! ;D ;D :y :y

I’m guessing you pay considerably more than me. I’d suggest about 2-3 times more for basic relay ;)

Same outfit as Autoaid, Autoaid covers the person in any car, Autonational cover the car with any driver.

For my needs, we need the personal type cover :y
