Well I've always been suspicious that my mobile is essentially a tracking device, but I didn't know that the government can also use it to blow my bollix off!  :o

Those rioters should count themselves lucky that they just got sent to jail for a few months.  ;D

The video on the news was very dramatic, poor man standing, minding his own business, when BANG!! Bits of his belly all over the place. Should have been very worrying, but.........me and the missus just looked at each other and pissed ourselves laughing.
I feel quite ashamed......honest.

If I told you, I'd have to get your television to kill you.

On the BBC News at 10, they had a fella speculating that the shipment of pagers was intercepted and small amounts of explosive fitted into each one.

He reckoned that the theory where the pagers were hacked so the batteries would explode isn't sound, as you wouldn't get consistent explosions, as we have seen happen.

Whoever has done this has pulled off a stunning operation!

Both Android and iOS do track, and can provide you with a map of where you have been today/this week/month/year/forever

Obviously any cellular phone operator can broadly track you by cell.

We have been discussing this at work and looked at a teardown for one of these devices.

The battery is a standard removable cell but, there is a small backup battery which might fit the bill.

I suspect the rumour about them triggering a thermal event are a load of rubbish, I think they just fired off a small bit of plastic explosive to do the damage.

Yes.  If 30-40 years ago someone told us that we'd all voluntarily go round with devices in our pocket that the government (or whoever) can track all of our movements, we'd have laughed, but here we are.  ::)
