.....
There's no way anyone with a brain would go back to a manual after driving an automatic. I mean...why?

Exactly!  ;D ;D

I went back to driving a manual after driving an auto for years.  :)

I rest my case  ;D

I have one of each. :P

But from experience a manual Omega is significantly more economical than the auto. This was also true of the Granada.

Modern autos are just as economical as manuals. Omegas are ancient old things now, no comparison to present day cars.

Not particularly, but you notice the difference when two otherwise identical cars have a 14 mpg difference and the auto struggles to hit 15 mpg...

Trouble is Steve that a lot of modern, 'conventional' cars have dodgy auto boxes.  >:(

I've only ever had a torque converter box, never driven one of these DSGs or a CVT or owt.

Dsg is very effective. Paddle shift extra a nice feature.

All cars ought to be auto with manual a chargeable option.

Drove my eldest's Audi A3 a few years ago, and yes, the paddle shift was great fun. The abomination that is the Ford Powershift has made getting a reliable auto that bit more difficult.

Modern CVTs are functional if better than the variomatics of old but will never set the world on fire.

DSG is all well and fancy, right up to the point where it selects two gears at once.

Conventional torque converter boxes are only complicated by electronics.

.

The new Yaris we have is CVT & drives well smooth as silk & for a 1.5 3 cylinder performance is excellent, it was funny when we test drove it as SWMBO remarked " I can't feel the the gears change"

Didn’t get any bids.

So  a seemingly good Omega is worth less than £1500.

Maybe I can snap Lizzies up for a grand.
