It was part of their election campaign to do away with it, so had to be done at any cost.  It had to be part of the campaign because of their standard oppose everything form of opposition.

But surely, nicely asking the criminal gangs running the boats to stop doing it will totally cure the problem.

With all those spare rooms in Rwanda, surely it's a great opportunity for the EU to step into the breach and start sending their illegals there.  :)

Wonder if Sir Starmer and Lammy would still be so keen on that closer relationship if they did?  ???  :D

There are around 10,000 foreign prisoners in our jails, so why don't they just immediately deport them and ban them from ever coming back.  ???

Oh and reinstate the gallows at Tyburn for thr really nasty bastards!

Perhaps, but it would be a rather effective deterrent.

Starmer  wants to let 40,000 'crims'  out early......after just 40% of their sentence has been served. :-\

Yet you hear of individuals who have burgled 20 houses and stolen 30 cars who have yet to see the inside of a prison cell.

They'll recall them when all the " new prisons " are built , oh forget that they haven't got the staff, what a total clusterf**k.

That's the problem, they've got rid of the dinosaurs from the job, stopped recruiting ex forces and gone for youngsters with no life experience ( the cheap option), or as the cons refer to them " fresh meat"
