Driver's door actuator - again!
« on: 25 June 2024, 16:10:42 »

I must be on my 3rd or 4th door actuator. Always the driver's door. The others are over 20 years old and never failed (touch wood!). No, it's ALWAYS the driver's door and I hate removing the card.
Grrr!  >:(

They seem to be like hens' teeth. Everywhere seems out of stock. :(

I do have an old one, so I might get that one checked/repaired if I can find someone to do it.

If I have a couple of hours spare on a nice sunny afternoon, I often visit our local breakers to have a rummage, coming away with the common parts that seem to fail on Omegas, such as rear diff mounts (if accessible), headlight leveller sensors, driver / pass door latches with central locking motors, vented rear brake pins and antirattle springs (if in good order) and basically the small parts that over the years I have found to fail to be NLA. Last visit amongst other 'gems', I found a good interior fusebox lid retaining strap which are more often than not broken :D
A few weeks ago there were 4 Omegas, unfortunately only CD spec, but for little money I came away with a good number of good usable spares that are hard to find. You have it to do when many are no longer available new....
But this also relies on them allowing you to remove the parts yourself, as some won't let you in the yard anywhere near them  :(
My local yard doesn't even ask me now what I'm after, as he knows its Omega parts and just waves me in and let's me have a free reign..
Happy days..!

Hello Johnnydog What more can you want than a couple of hours finding bits to keep instock. I did have a yard near me that only had vauxhall cars but he has retired,I will have to look further afield.

Just found an actuator in my shed. Can't remember if it works or not. How can I test it before stripping the door card off?
