The Dow dropped 12% in the wake of Sars, yet ended up 19% up on the Pre Sars value by the year end :-X

They'll be telling people not to pop bubble wrap next ::)

First Coronavirus death in the UK. Little wonder people believe the end of the world is just around the corner FFS.

Complete overreaction, of course, but my missus wouldn't mind schools closing for two months.

You’ll be pleased to know that no checks were carried out on arrivals at LGW this morning. So clearly no worries that it it will spread widely in the UK.  :-X

Not bowing to media hype more like ;)

Besides, as a former bus driver :P, you know exactly how many different people spread their germs every where on a 150 seat aircraft operating a 6-8 sector day...

Also AIUI you're infectious for a good while before you show any symptoms. So any kind of temperature screening is likely to pull in more people with the flu/sniffles/ other infection than Corona virus.

No doubt that the tabloids will be berating the airports' lack of  action imminently.  ::)

Given that all the symptoms most people will actually suffer with from this virus, most carriers probably won't even know.  ::)

Whilst we are on the subject, more people have recovered than currently have mild symptoms and a quarter of the number or serious/critical cases have actually died...

36,000/35,000 and 8,000/2,500 respectively...  ;)

I went to Tesco's this afternoon for supplies and noted that the shelves were a bit low on some things like meat pies and eggs, but didn't think too deeply about it.  :)

Then later I noticed #panicbuying trending on Twitter with loads of photos of empty supermarket shelves, especially in Sydney.  ::)

I did buy a couple of extra tins of tuna and a tin of corned beef, just in case like.  :y

Them were the days, Dave. Sunday tea, salmon butties and jelly and custard. Used to love it then, can't stand it now. The tinned salmon, not the jelly and ice cream.

Funny you should say that Dave, when I was having clear out after my Mum died a few years ago I found a tin of pink salmon at the back of one of her kitchen cupboards that had clearly been there for a few years.  :)

I kept it, but when I did get round to opening it, it was none too good and went in the bin.  ::)

Wish me luck.

I am flying in to the land of milk, honey and fishes tomorrow. Leaving my safe haven for hospitals and various ill people.  Lets hope it is as safe as the optimists are saying. 👍

salmon sandwiches are funeral buffet food , the older we get,the more we eat  :'(
I prefer tin salmon to fresh  :-[
i'm not in an old people's home eating jelly n icecream  yet Uncle Stemo , so you knock yourself out  ;D

I think most older people had a secret stash of tinned food ,just in case , probably a result of post WW2 rationing

i'm young , i have a BIG stash of tinned food ,just in case  , probably a result of threats of nothing to eat paranoia  ;D
