Service kit for 2.5 petrol Omega
« on: 26 September 2019, 17:31:04 »

Sorry this is a very basic question, am getting a service on my W-reg 2000 2.5l Elite auto and there's two options to buy the kit - one with 4 plugs and a metal oil filter, the other has 6 plugs with a paper filter. Which one would I go for? Thanks in advance.

I'd buy the bits you *need* individually.

If I knew what they were I wouldn't need to ask.

Being the 2.5...

You *need* 6 plugs... Which hopefully answers your question.

If we presume that it's post '98 then the paper filter is the one you also *need* ;)

Will need 6 spark plugs. To find out what type oil filter you need, look under the passenger side towards the front of the engine. You will see either a normal oil filter, if not a normal filter then it is a paper element type.

As Doctor Gollum said.

Word of advice, remove a plug lead and replace that plug, refit plug lead.

Repeat 6 times ;)

You can, buy some small white cable ties, and attach the required amount to each lead. Or use some tip-ex and put a dot on each lead.

If it hasn't been serviced for a good few years, will also need anti- freeze change, brake fluid change, check diff and gbox levels,  fuel filter, pollen filter, air filter, ,, if it has spark plug leads a new set of them.
