I am getting an over-heating warning on my laptop. I presume it will need to go to a shop that fix these things.

Blast a bit of compressed air through the cooling fins to clean the dust out. :y

Yep, its usually dust and fluff stuck in the heatsink and fans, careful use of the hoover and or compressed air will sort.
