2.6 auto gearbox sump gasket

just phoned vauxhall, they say for my omega its a sealant not a gasket for the auto box sump is this correct

Nope theres two...

1 for the small sump and 1 for the rear sump, Iv only just changed the gearbox oil in mine and still have the bill too.....

gave him the reg number and he says that the later omegas have sealant not a gasket .  :-\

That is true for the engine but 'dangle berries' for the gearbox.
Mine is 2003 so they don't come any later and that had gaskets.

Ouch! Don't recall them being that much before!

If you're an autobahnstormers member I believe there always used to be a member on there who could supply them too. Might be worth a look.

Got mine from Dealers about 3 years ago and have still not fitted them. Another job to do, but how much is a new filter and do you have the part number for it  :y

22 plus vat for the filter


The filter is something you definitely don't want to buy from Vauxhall! Although if you're doing the job yourself, cleaning the filter will work.

The filter is something you definitely don't want to buy from Vauxhall! Although if you're doing the job yourself, cleaning the filter will work.

Yep, clean it with a bit of paraffin or similar. :y

I recall discovering bits of thrust washer at Newent one year... Solution - Ignore it until another day  ;D

Said thrust washer now replaced with metal one :y
