Vectra xenons do a self test when first turned on, iirc there is a ecu in the driver side wing behind the headlamp this has a short loom that water can get into causing problems with the o/s light, I'm sure the o/s light ecu feeds the n/s ecu in a master and slave situation.

The Omega has an ecu in a similar location, but seems to be very well protected from the elements...
