Fuel prices forcing car sales??
« on: 08 July 2008, 19:19:01 »

Anyone else feel like parting with their car for something that runs a fair bit more economically??

At an average of 29.9mpg since I have had her (6 months), I am finding the rising fuel costs a tad crippling, and as such am considering selling my rather lovely Omega for something a little less juicy.  Fuel has gone up over 20% since I bought the car, it's way beyond a joke now.

Ha!

See I have grown to love the mig.  When I got it, I was apprehensive.  But the comfort and space have become too good to lose.  HOWEVER, fuel is my single biggest expense per month bar none.  I need to reduce the cost without large expense.  Now the LPG idea did cross my mind, but the initial cost makes it an unviable option right now :(

Your lucky at 29.9mpg av , my comp reckons im averaging 19mpg  :o
Tho that is on lpg mind....goes up a tad on petrol.

Tho i do a lot of town work.....av speed is usually 19mph.

Im no better off now running an omega on lpg than running a diesel.

I used to be able to get lpg for 30ppl......now im paying 59ppl

Ive chatted to a mate......who runs a VW passat 1.9TD Auto as a taxi........he works roughly the same hours a me......he bungs in £20 of diesel a day........i use £20 of lpg a day.....so no advantage to me anymore.  :(

End of November or sooner......my omega will be for sale.....its got until then left on its plating.....then im going back to diesel.

A mig tractor??

I caught the tail end of a program last week.....not sure which one.

Bloke was straining used cooking through what looked like a J cloth......added some chemical to it.......and bunged in straight into the tank of a diesel.....

He did say you have to add a £3 filter to the tank, presumably before the main diesel filter and that you have to change it every 1k miles...

Wonder what the chemical was  ::)

Interesting  ::)
