Wheel spacers
« on: 22 November 2014, 10:13:35 »

I had a chat with a guy which has wheel spacers on his omega.
Is this something to improve the handling?

I have 225 tyres on mine,

He said he prefer 225 and 20 mm wheel spacers.

I know you can buy them and it is improvement on some types of cars.
Anybody has experience with them on a omega?

I suppose technically they increase the track of the car but my understanding is that any wheelspacers are bad for the stress they put on wheel bearings. If they were a good idea the manufactucters would fit them as standard.

Far better to make sure the standard suspnsion components are up to standard and maybe fit uprated shock absorbers.

Years ago, there was a Super Snipe parked up on a local drive, it'd sat there for years. Then I saw it on the end of a tow rope being dragged to its new home

Well I had no problems on my pajero with 35 mm with wheel earrings, but the omega is not a pajero.
So, thank you for the help.
Think I don't bother .
Not about loosing a wheel lol more about the money and aggro replacing wheel bearings.

Is just, the thing with cars as standart.
They been made for what the are and some just look better modified and drive better if done as well.

I never liked a car from the standart Manufacterer so if I find anything looking different and improves unless is expensive I give it a go.

I also had rear windows dark black, on every car for the last 20 years.
Is some I would never miss on any car. Even is not really a modification. Lol

I've owned two! A mk1 that was a breaker, and a mk3 that had a 3l Ford engine that I never finished.

I used 20 mm spacers on omega and still using.. the reason  is I'm using 5x120 wheels

handling not that different but aftermarket wishbones retire earlier with them and require changing
