Common practice is to change the belt and tensioner pulley at the same time as the cambelt :y

;D the pulley is available separately, so no need to buy the whole tensioner unless it's weak :y

Easily checked if the belt is 'loose' with the engine running...

through experience - recommend you get GATES aux belt--lasts much longer than cheaper ones :y :y

Not advisable, check the Aux Belt Tensioner with a spanner with Engine Off, there normally nice and tight, its normally the plastic Pulley that fails and quickly when they do   ;)

Sorry, should have been clearer... :-[ this is a simple visual check... any flapping/slapping and the belt is loose :y

If the belt looks taught, then then only concern is the pulley :y

For what the pulley costs, change it, and as you have to remove the belt to change the pulley, you may as well pop a new belt on :y Especially if you have no idea when it was last changed :-\

Pulley is available without the tensioner, so don't take any nonsense :y
