Some appreciation
« on: 24 June 2014, 20:47:42 »

Hi
Got my 2.0 litre saloon about 18 months ago for scrap money as previous owner had passed away.
It had all the usual things wrong with it:
Smoked like a sailor
Handled like a drunk
Had no hot air from cabin vents
No air con
Leaking shocks
Broken springs
Door locks that didnt work

Thanks to this site, and all the information on it, all the above have been fixed, diy style, on my drive with hand tools.
I now have an executive saloon, that although has seen better days, still looks class if you squint your eyes, and my missus wants to drive as it is so comfortable, stable and easy to drive (trust me that is pretty unusual). All that for £250 quid from ebay plus many trips to eurocarparts and many hours under the car.
This website has been invaluable and i would never have attempted the repairs without the know-how here.
I don't normally post here, but today with my new air con condenser being filled up by kwikfit today and ice cold air coming out i realize that i have reached the end of the journey. The omega is complete, and i can't believe what a journey it has been. Just wanted to post my appreciation here for a great car and great forum.

Congratulations on sorting the car. It can seem like a daunting task, but now you're finished...the satisfaction is great! Well done  :y

i shan't bore you with downloading a photo. Its a beige interior and gold paint job.
tbh the exterior has seen better days but i have had to prioritize my time. The mechanicals have come first and for a v reg she is in as good as you can get.
i didn't mention the radio that didn't work and the clonking transmission that needed a fluid and filter change. All done courtesy of the info on this site.
she will be used as a summer workhorse for towing/camping and has a roofbox on the whole time. Sacriligeous i know but i saved her from the scrapper.
btw i would advise everyone to look behind the wheel arches where mud can collect at the back lower edge. I had a rust perforation there. Fixed with fibreglass and lots of dinitrol wax.
