Traction Control fault & MOT due shortly!!
« on: 15 March 2014, 20:12:19 »

Miggy's having a problem with the in dash TC  warning light :o
And I'm afraid I'm not that well up on the technicals of traction control :'(
If theirs  any kind soul who can put me in the rite groove in view of the
closeness of the MOT it will be much appreciated :y :y

Also accompanying the TC flag is the usual car/spanner warning this being there when the ign is switched on
I think the pedal trouble code its throwing up is 1 7 10 10
Thanks
Hope there's something I can try :y :y

You need to get the codes read by someone who can access all the systems. You may be lucky and find that once cleared it doesn't come back

Code not related to tc

1700 implies its receiving "something unexpected" on CANBUS, which could be TCM for ABS. All 3 need codes read.

If it helps, I'll be near Scarborough this time next week. I can bring the Tech2 along if you fancy a trip to the coast on evening?

Hello,Chris,
Good to have your care & interest :y
To answer your query the light comes on with the rest when key switched on
It then goes out for a good 10 second pause
During this period it seems to respond to button off & ons as normal
When the 10 secs are up it's light on and button dead
Hope this is the reaction you hoped for
It's almost as if the 1st 10secs of switch on are a check period which is negative
If the light is switched on by button it stays on if off it then comes on permanently :'(

IME, the 1700 code can throw up some strange symptoms, although I've never seen this one. Does the ABS light come on with the ignition as normal?

Hello all,
Now able to report that Migsy now has a M.O.T cert :y
This is with no small thanks to Migsy's meet with TB :y :y
He kindly in the very best spirit of oof allowed a little of his holiday time to make swmbo & myself a happy couple ;D
At the end of all my worrying the trouble turned out to be the autobox fuse No 9 I think was blown plain & simple
TB replaced the 10 amp fuse & Migsy is now her old self ;D

Good to hear it got through the test, and thanks for the pressie :D.  Was good to see you again :y

Did you get round to replacing that temporary fuse, which was a mini blade (as I had to nick from the Zafira) rather than the correct type, thus not as good fit? I had a concern it may come loose over rough roads.
