Hi chaps,

One of my neighbours is having some car trouble with her Corsa and I've been meaning to get an ODB2 reader for the laptop for some time when I saw this. Just links to your phone. Anyone had a play? Does it work with the miggy? Any good?

I have something similar, and use it with Torque Pro on my Android phone or tablet. Works well, if the car is OBD compliant, and Pro gives a whole bunch of other functions not normally available to code readers. For the money, if you have an OBD car, I don't see why you wouldn't keep one in the glovebox at all times. That's where mine lives, as I've used it a number of times on friend's cars.

Just bear in mind that pre-2001 Vauxhall OBD compliance is VERY spotty. V6 Omegas aren't, Astras and Corsas get better the newer they are. It's not unusual to find one that won't connect though. Peugeots are even worse, 206s in particular can be a real pain to read with any tool.

I have got a bluetooth OBD adapter that lives in the glove box.

Torquepro is good but is focused more on performance than diagnostics.

Scanmyopel lite (free) and pro (£6?) gives more detail and can read more than just the engine ECU.

Most of the adapters are made in China and offer varying levels of compatibility with the ELM chip that they are all copying.

If yours is 2.6 or 3.2 then it will work. 

The Clear Codes is a feature of the Software.

If the Corsa is pre ODB (2001) then use the Paper Clip Test to read codes.

The Mini BT one like the one you have shown. I have found to be a bit hit and miss due to cheap PCB designs, my book, says worth paying a bit more or the same for the Older Bigger ones, I'll see if I can dig out an Ebay link,

Tons of software out there to read and reset codes, most of the free ones just read only, with an purchase option to reset Codes.

I use a Freebie Java app for older type phones that will read and reset, again I dig out a Download link, if you want to have play before you go out and purchase software.

Oddly enough I'd just printed out the paper-clip test for the Corsa before I saw your reply. It is on an R plate so should work. If it stops raining for 5 minutes I'll pop over and see if I can get anything out of it.
