still reckon easier to remove head mate-easier to rectify faults on bench than under bonnet IMHO  :y

At the rate this is going, I am thinking of taking the entire engine out....

 ::)   I tried to tell that if you plan to keep the car its better that you have them solved/done at a time ..  :-\

Yes, I do wanna keep it but I think the plan will be to either pull this engine and rebuild or, get another, lower milage engine and go to work on that one...

Dave, I dont think you need to rebuild it.. it may only need headgaskets changing in the near future (unless you measured low compression values or other big problems before).. for that reason I said doing them together will take less time and work in total.. :-\

I do think I'm better off if I do it with a newer unit...
