Information suspension springs
« on: 28 October 2012, 10:11:30 »

Information suspension springs.
the time has come for me to replace the suspension of my omega, I will change the suspension front and rear and I do not know if the suspension spring should be changed along with the shock, you know of a wear limit for the spring suspension?
thanks to those who give me information or TIP OF.

Whatever you do do it in pairs and not singly! The springs and the shockers have all done the same amount of work and so will all be worn the same. Just make sure that you order the correct ones for your model and that you install them correctly. Buy them new too so you know they are unworn..........second hand ones you take a risk with and may end up doing it all again............
Good luck though....be safe..... :y

Depends on condition and age of shocks, surely? How old, how many miles etc.

If original, and the car is of average age and miles, then I'd fit new shocks while your there, as shocks aren't that expensive.

If its a cost issue, there's no reason why shocks MUST be changed with springs, but it would follow that if the springs need changing so would the shocks.

A couple of tests might help.
Check for oil leaks, or signs of.
Bounce the car at front and back by hand, if it returns to normal ride height and stops(push down, release, up, down, stop) all is well. If it carrys on bouncing uncontrolably then the dampers have failed.

Always replace steering and suspension components in axle pairs. Always. :)
