Heater matrix
« on: 28 January 2012, 19:05:23 »

Ok so heat wasn't best in car so decided to flush out heater matrix but as boys said on here about the two pipes being hot. Only top pipe was hot bottom pipe was warm same as before flush.
Wot else could possibly be wrong with it and just wondering if I flushed it right.
Went by guide on here
Used two hose pipes
Ran water until it ran clear
Then reversed pipes and flushed other way
Then fitted hoses back on to car again
Started car
Kept cap of Coolent bottle
Ran until warm but nothin seemed to happen as lads said about burping
Then took car for a good run but was still the same and coolant level hasn't dropped
Any ideas
I'm thinking blocked pipes possibly

Although my Dad ended up replacing the heater matrix on his Granada he had limited success by leaving a dissolved dish washer tablet in his matrix over a few days - left both hoses in place on the matrix & poured the mix in with a jug. Might be worth a try ........  :-\ :-\ :-\

Did you get the hoses off the matrix easily enough?

Yeah bit of a tight space but handy enough.
