Actually maybe I wasn't clear enough Boditza and I apologize.
My previous post was meant that is is the best solution to put an aftermarket mp3 stereo and that is it.
I've had two fm transmitters and would't bother with them again

still not worth the trouble in getting the cd changer out and soldering in there some things, or even paying 30-40 pounds for an fm transmitter that suports the ipod. i have to admit i listen to radio a lot in the car because there are 2 local radio stations with 23 hours a day of music :)

Unlike an MP3 CD, you can store tunes on an iPod by name, artist, genre, in fact by any means you wish to categorize it, and its only by correct categorization that it will work for you. If you have got this wrong, then you become very dissolusioned with teh whole thing, as you have been - but if you have got it right, you will become addicted to the fact that you can play any track of any artist within a few clicks. It took me a while to get behind it, but now I rip every cd that comes into our workshop and am close to filling my second 160gB unit.

Yes, the quality is poor, but so is the radio when using it for background noise also - Our National radio station, Heart FM, has a definate problem of the same five records played all day, every day, hence the boom in iPod usage over here.

 ;)

Yep, same here. Every CD gets ripped then put away. Can't remember the last time I listened to music directly off a CD. ;D

I rip to FLAC, so the quality is not lost, and have found a handy utility that can convert to MP3 on the fly, so I have 2 shares on my music server. One is "real" and contains the entire collection in FLAC, the other is virtual, read-only, and looks like the entire collection in MP3. Whenever a file is accessed the FLAC file gets transcoded to MP3 and delivered to whatever requested it. 8-)

Must get myself an in-car solution to play some of this stuff sometime. ;D

oh.. then i am trully sorry. i did not understood that, i thought you are going to rip the pieces apart and solder a ipod jack :)).

@dave dnd i don't have a specific genre that i like.. just the latest hits wich are from various artists, gorillaz and u2. so by categorizing them won't get me going :). although i was offtopic and understood something else

p.s. can't w8 for u2s next album :D

I currently seem to be transiting from Radio 2 to Radio 3.
I blame a hatred of Chris Evans, coupled with the influence of Zoo Lou. ::) ;D

i understand, i have the facilities and all that and i can fit loads of music on a cd blah blah blah but i must get with this ipod as i know it can do everything i want but that's a learning curve that i must make!! my wife bought me this ipod and now i need to be schooled! i set it up in the car and all and have found the random button but that's it! i think i need to look further into this, but first i need to learn how to operate the stereo properly ::) oh well... ;D
