Burning Oil
« on: 26 March 2010, 12:12:21 »

Hi All, I have a 2.6 V6 Auto 2001 with 49k miles.
Lately i have noticed that it is using alot of oil (prob 1 litre per month) and now and again after a journey i notice a strong burning oil smell coming from the car and u can feel the heat.
Seems to be running OK and  temp guage is between 80 and 85 not too hot and I cant notice any oil leaks.
Any idea on what it could be fellow Omega owners ???????

Cam cover gaskets and blocked breathers spring to mind.

Hi

Seems very similar to the problem I'm having. I've put mine down to leaking Rocker Gaskets which I need to replace.

Update, Have had a good look over the engine and have noticed oil on one of the big inlet pipes at front of engine, Have taken the pipe off and there is a bit of oil on the inside and outside of it, Have put it back on securely.
Any ideas as to what is wrong ???? Or could this still be the breathers blocked ???
