Mystery water leak
« on: 26 May 2009, 22:12:26 »

Hi, I've got a 2001 y reg Omega 2.2 petrol CDX Sometimes the car loses water and I can 't figure out why. I only notice when doing routine checks and  the reservoir is empty for no apparent reason.  :'(The temperature gauge doesn’t indicate a problem and the hoses all seem okay.   The display says Says 'check coolant level' even when the water is topped up. Any ideas? Thanks! :'(

The display shows that bcause probably the sensor on the water bottle is dead.
do you use aircon often?

Turn on the air conditioner and wait a couple of minutes.
Then check the rubber hose on the right of the engine leading from  the cooling system.
My car was loosing water on this hoose quite rapidly when tje aircon was turned on

Could be th HBV .. heater bypass valve .... its the usual culprit .... check from below and behind drivers wheel and you may see water dripping onto gearbox housing .... thats what mine was doing anyway  :y

Thanks for your replies. Much appreciated. Looks like it could be the HBV. Gonna get the part and see if we can fit it ourselves??  :D
