Yes, thats the next, no more phones, sky disconnected.
nothing else using the line,

all the extensions will be permanently disconnected this week, and 2 dect, 2 wired phones all being replaced with a quad pack.

if theres still a problem (guessing there wont be)  then a new splitting / filtering faceplate will go on.

hes not got some old extension bell wired in....there must be something else on the line somewhere.....again, one of the filtered faceplates would be the better solution.

the wiring is dodgy, and not really accessible, so removing it from the equation.  been fine for voice, but any adsl on the line and it is unusable.

Yeh, the extension wiring should make no difference, something is allowing the broadband to interfere with the voice.....and the only real thing that can do that is another un-filtered device on the setup....I wonder if the neighbour is making use of his line....(seen that once before)

Or a dodgy filter...

aye tis a weird one.

Spent hours playing with different permutations of phones / routers / filters.

Hence the remove the problem out the equation, be interesting to see if the new phones do it once extensions removed.
Has been tried with 2 faceplates now I think about it.....had a brass one originally, which he replaced with the plastic which he replaced a few years ago, due to noise on the line....he has had no end of grief with noise in the past, something not right somewhere, but all currently fine with the extra wiring out the equation.

A fault with the wiring can ime.  Particularly damp sockets, which tend to act a little like a diode between either A and B, or between B and ringer.  Damaged cable - white cable on outside wall, or plastered over cable - can also affect it, but that tends to give noisy voice as well, as invariably the actual conducters are damaged and corroded.

JB - when they pick up the phone, does the broadband cut off?  If so, that could well be a BT problem caused by an HR on the before the NTE5 (but normally close to NTE).

nope, using voice does not affect BB

(I used to have a great problem...If I used a modem on an adsl enabled and connected line - to dial into work, used to kill the broadband connection.  Hence buying those best quality filters, cured it instantly)
