hi,
  i've just registered with this site, i've got 2.5v6 which has been tuned up to 360bhp (very quick) but what i need to know is how easy is it to change track rod ends by yourself.

Never done track rod ends, but, while I'm posting, could you enlighten us to specifically what you've done in order to achieve that sort of BHP?

You need a decent balljoint splitter, but other than that fairly straight forward. Make sure you get it aligned properly afterwards.

Either type of ball joint splitter should do it, though the screw up type would be best.


So come on, what mods have you done to get that sort of power? Supercharged?

I think there must be another engine fitted in the boot or maybe a transplanted V8 for the original V6

you want one of these - £13.19 from Halfrauds if you have a trade card - used it when changing my O/S track rod, makes the job laughably easy compared to fighting with the fork type and a F.B hammer !!!

The method I use involves removing the outer track arm, measuring its length and then removing the track rod ends, clean the threads well, grease realy well, refit or renew and set back to the originaly measured length....it ensures that the tracking is set approx to where is needs to be....and allows much easier adjustment in the future.....
